At the Grand Lodge Convention held in Anaheim, California in July, Rancho Cordova Elks Lodge #2484 received this award. We are very proud that the efforts we expend as a result of all the hard work of the Catch the Spirit Project and all of our members who are supporting this endeavor were recognized by the Grand Lodge through this prestigious award.

Lodge #2484 named by Caltrans as "Volunteer of the Year" for 2005

Rancho Cordova Elks Lodge was recently named the “2005 Volunteer of the Year” by Caltrans for its Adopt-A-Highway Program. The award was presented in recognition of the Lodge members’ civic pride and unselfish spirit. Caltrans representative, Shirley Pereira, in presenting the award said that, although few people are aware of the hard work necessary to maintain a roadside, everyone appreciates an attractive highway. The Director of the California Department of Transportation, Will Kempton, and the Statewide Adopt-a-Highway Coordinator, Terri Porter, thanked the Lodge’s members for the countless hours donated to help beautify the great State of California. The Lodge has been faithfully cleaning the stretch of Highway 50 between Folsom and Hazel since 1990. The Lodge was also presented a Certificate of Recognition as the “2005 Volunteer of the Year” by First District State Senator Dave Cox.
